2009 was the third of three vintages where we experienced drought conditions during the Spring. Nice even growing conditions were favorable towards achieving wonderful phenolic ripeness while still preserving ample acidity. We harvested the majority of the fruit during the full harvest moon on October 2 & 3 with yields of about 2 tons/acre. We selected eight of the best barrels and allowed them to age for a full 27 months before bottling the wine unfined and unfiltered.
